On February 15, 1889, Seattle tailors organize the Tailors' Union Local No. 71. Wages in 1889 are about $2.85 per day.

By 1902, there were 100 members who worked 10 hours a day, six days a week. In 1902, wages for both men and women were $3.00 per day.
