On November 3, 1942, Warren G. Magnuson (1905-1989) is elected to the U. S. House of Representatives for a fourth term from Washington state's 1st District. Maggie is elected by a two to one margin.

Magnuson polled 69,010 votes (65.5 percent) compared with 35,910 votes (34 percent) for Republican Harold H. Stewart. The 1st District included Seattle and Kitsap County.

For the first time since Magnuson was elected in 1936, Republicans were elected to Washington state House seats, with three Republicans and three Democrats representing the state and two Democrat Senators. This was Magnuson's last term as a member of the House of Representatives. In 1944 he ran for and won a seat in the U. S. Senate.
