Address: The Highlands, Shoreline. William Boeing is best known as founder of the Boeing Airplane Company, which he began as Pacific Aero Products in 1916. Before his pioneering work in aviation, Boeing pursued a successful career in the timber industry. In 1909, Boeing purchased several lots in The Highlands, a gated residential community located on a wooded bluff overlooking Puget Sound immediately north of Seattle. Boeing's expansive Mediterranean Revival residence, completed in 1914, was designed by Charles H. Bebb. Boeing lived in the house until 1954, when he donated the estate to Children's Orthopedic Hospital and moved to his country estate near Fall City.
