On October 18, 1973, H. Dolores Dasalla Sibonga (b. 1931) becomes the first Filipina American to be admitted to the Washington State Bar.

In 1978 she was appointed to the Seattle City Council to replace Phyllis Lamphere, and was elected to the post in 1979. She served on the council for 12 years.
