Cumberland beginnings: Cumberland Post Office opens on October 13, 1894.

On October 13, 1894, the Cumberland Post Office opens. Tyra F. Lawson is appointed postmaster. Cumberland is located just east of Black Diamond

and eight miles north of Enumclaw.

Cumberland was situated on the Northern Pacific and Milwaukee Railroad.
