On February 9, 1903, the Dockton Post Office opens. Albert Nilsen is appointed the first postmaster. Mail is distributed from a small store located on a pier. In 1987 the post office closes. Dockton is located 18 miles south of Seattle on Maury Island (Puget Sound) near the east shore of Quartermaster Harbor.
