On March 14, 1904, Tukwila Post Office opens. Mrs. Minnie M. Lutz is appointed the first postmaster. Mail is distributed from a small building next to a shoe shop. On March 15, 1908, post office closes and reopens June 8, 1909. Tukwila is located in King County 10 miles south of Seattle and three miles west of Renton.
