On March 26, 1904, Cove Post Office opens. John Rindal is appointed the first postmaster. Mail is distributed from a large building near the town's dock. On September 30, 1956, the post office closes permanently. Cove is located 14 miles south of Seattle on the west shore of Vashon Island.
