El 31 de mayo de 1936 el abogado Thomas Masuda bosqueja una constitución para la Asociación Japonesa de Golf del Noroeste del Pacífico en Seattle, donde se está llevando a cabo el sexto Torneo Anual. Masuda se convierte en el primer presidente de la asociación. La misma continuará realizando torneos anuales en ciudades del Noroeste hasta 1941, cuando todas las personas de ascendencia japonesa serán forzadas a abandonar la Costa Oeste durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
