1968 年 7 月,西雅图华人社区的几名成员组建了一个社团,旨在从年青人中培养运动员和社区活动参与者。西雅图华人体育协会 (Seattle Chinese Athletic Association,简称 SCAA) 最开始有 35 名男孩,包括垒球、台球和篮球运动。到 2010 年,该协会将核心放在篮球运动上,有 200 多名男孩和女孩成为各球队主力,这有助于在西雅图的华人居民中培养社区意识
